How to Generate Strong Passwords Without Overthinking It

A strong password should be difficult to predict and unique to the account where it is used. Length is one of the easiest ways to increase the number of possible combinations, especially when the characters are randomly selected. A password manager can generate and store long random passwords so you do not need to memorize each one. Avoid reusing the same password across important accounts because one breach can then affect several services. Random generators are preferable to clever personal patterns, song lyrics, birthdays, or common substitutions because human-created patterns are often more predictable than they feel. The generator on this site uses the browser cryptography API and runs locally, but you should still use a trusted password manager for long-term storage. For accounts that support it, add multi-factor authentication or passkeys as an additional layer.
